Known Limitations — FB Cleaner
FB Cleaner automates what is otherwise a painfully manual process, but Facebook's structure
means there are some situations where it can't act on your behalf. This page documents those
edge cases so you know what to expect.
Pages you've liked
Removed, archived, or renamed pages
If a page you previously liked has since been deleted, archived, or renamed
by its admin, it may still appear in your Liked Pages list — but the "Unlike" option may be
inaccessible or broken. In this case, you'll need to visit the page directly and unlike it manually.
FB Cleaner will skip these without counting them as errors.
Pages with restricted visibility
Some pages are only partially visible to non-followers or have geographic
restrictions. If FB Cleaner can't fully load the unlike action, it will skip and move on.
Groups you've joined
Groups you admin or own
You cannot leave a group you administer without first transferring admin
rights or deleting the group. FB Cleaner will skip groups where you are the sole admin. You'll
need to handle these manually before they can be left.
Secret groups
Some secret or highly restricted groups may not surface the "Leave group"
option in a way FB Cleaner can interact with. These will be skipped.
Posts
Posts by others on your timeline
FB Cleaner only removes posts you created. Posts that others tagged
you in, or that appear on your timeline but were written by someone else, cannot be deleted by
you and will be skipped.
Shared posts
Reshared content may not surface a standard delete option. FB Cleaner will
skip these if no delete or move-to-trash action is available.
Posts in groups
Posts you made inside Facebook Groups are not shown on your profile timeline.
FB Cleaner's Posts mode only targets your main profile timeline. Group posts require manual
deletion inside each group.
Pinned posts
Pinned posts may not surface the standard delete menu in the same position
as regular posts. If your pinned post is being skipped, unpin it first, then run FB Cleaner again.
Photos
Photos you're tagged in (but didn't upload)
FB Cleaner can only delete photos you uploaded. Photos uploaded by other
people that you're tagged in cannot be deleted — you can only remove your tag. This must be
done manually.
Photos uploaded to group albums
Photos uploaded to group albums are not accessible from your profile's
Photos tab and won't appear for FB Cleaner to process.
Videos
FB Cleaner's Photos mode targets photos only. Videos uploaded to your
profile are not processed and will not be counted or deleted.
Comments & Reactions
Comments on deleted or private posts
If the original post has been deleted or made private since you commented,
your comment may still appear in your Activity Log but FB Cleaner may not be able to action it.
Reactions on group posts
Likes or reactions on posts within private or closed groups may not be
actionable via the Activity Log. These will be skipped.
Activity Log may be incomplete
Facebook's Activity Log does not always surface every historical action —
particularly very old comments or reactions. If an item doesn't appear in the Activity Log,
FB Cleaner has no way to find or remove it.
Comments on your own posts
Comments you left on your own posts may appear differently in the Activity
Log and could be skipped in some cases. If this happens, they can be removed manually from
the individual post.
General
Keep the tab open and active
FB Cleaner runs inside the active Facebook tab. Switching to another tab,
minimising the browser window, or letting your computer sleep while it's running can interrupt
the process. Keep the tab visible until the run completes.
Run in batches
FB Cleaner processes up to the "Stop after" count per run. For large
clean-ups, simply press Start again after each run completes — it will pick up where it left
off on the page.
The counter shows items processed, not guaranteed deletions
FB Cleaner counts every item it attempted to action. Some items are
silently skipped (posts you didn't create, reactions on inaccessible content, etc.). The final
count reflects attempts, not confirmed deletions.
Rate limiting
Facebook may temporarily slow down or block actions if FB Cleaner runs
too quickly. If you notice the process stalling or nothing happening, stop and try again after
a few minutes. Setting a lower "Stop after" count (e.g. 20 at a time) can help.
Facebook UI changes
FB Cleaner works by interacting with Facebook's interface the same way
you would. If Facebook updates their layout or renames menu items, the extension may stop
finding the right buttons. When this happens, check
verolab.io for an updated version.
Actions are permanent (except Posts)
Posts you delete are moved to Facebook Trash and are recoverable for
30 days. All other actions — unliking pages, leaving groups, deleting comments, removing
reactions — are immediate and permanent. There is no undo.
